Topping Introduces “DX1”: Latest Desktop DAC/AMP With Newest AK4493S DAC Chip
Topping doesn’t require any kind of introduction among audiophiles. Their primary aim has always been to design and market high-performance desktop HiFi gears including decoders, headphone amplifiers, and more. Today, Topping has introduced a brand new pocket-friendly desktop DAC/AMP, the Topping DX1. Priced attractively at just 99$, DX1 brings new generation of AKM DAC’s to your desktop. It houses latest AK4493S DAC chip, an upgrade to the classic AK4493 32-bit DAC that delivers impressive performance in decoding high-resolution audio signals.
Topping has equipped the DX1 with 8-core high-performance XU208 USB receiver from XMOS. It provides high-resolution audio signal decoding including support for 32-Bit/384kHz PCM and native DSD256 signals. Topping has shared some details related to the output quality of the DX1, the device achieves an ultra-low distortion of just 0.0002% while decoding high-resolution audio signals. This promises a quality performance in the long run and a clean output. Topping DX1 can be used either as a DAC/AMP or just as a pure DAC. It has an in-built headphone amp section that produces a powerful output of up to 280mW @ 32Ω of load. In pure DAC mode, you can easily connect it to further headphone or power amplifiers in your chain.
Topping DX1 houses dual headphone output ports, both single-ended(6.35mm and 3.5mm). It doesn’t require any power adapter to work on, takes power directly from the connected source. In order to reduce the noise from USB power, Topping has featured Discrete LNRD circuit(low noise reference driver). It filters out the noise and interference of USB 5V power and provides a clean and stable power supply to the device.
If you are into the market for a budget DAC/AMP solution, Topping DX1 is an interesting choice with quality features. For just 99$, it seems pretty intriguing!!
