Shanling UA5: First USB DAC/AMP With In-Built Battery
Shanling UA5 is officially available starting today. The UA5 is the first of its kind USB DAC/AMP to feature an in-built 220mAh battery. This allows the users to power the DAC and AMP chipsets with clean power using the hybrid power mode. Shanling’s UA series of USB DAC/AMPs have garnered a lot of respect in the HiFi audio community for their absolute value for money. The latest UA5 leads the series with a flagship-grade performance and a price of 235$.
Shanling UA5 houses a dual DAC chipset featuring two ES9038Q2M DAC chips. The ES9038Q2M is a 32-bit reference level DAC chip that provides exceptional performance with high-resolution signal decoding. UA5 packs a powerful performance with dual Ri-Core RE6863 amplifiers, with dual DAC and dual AMP chips, the UA5 has a fully balanced architecture.
Shanling UA5 supports SPDIF digital output via its single-ended 3.5mm headphone output port. It also has another balanced 4.4mm headphone output. With Ri-Core amplifiers, the UA5 outputs a clean and powerful output, easily powering demanding IEMs without any trouble. It has got an output power rating of up to 211mW @ 32Ω through the 4.4mm headphone output. Via the 3.5mm single-ended port, the UA5 provides up to 137mW of clean power at the same 32Ω load.
The latest-gen USB DAC/AMPs have started getting a small OLED display to show different settings and options. UA5 houses a 1.44″ monochromatic OLED display. It also houses a physical volume wheel to precisely adjust the volume on the go. Shanling has made the UA5 available in two different color options, Red & Black. Both of the color options look absolutely adorable and elegant with a rich anodized finish.
