Shanling Reveals “UA3” Latest Portable USB DAC/AMP With AK4493S DAC
Shanling seems to be on a roll, in recent times, they have released several new and premium high-end gears. It was just last month when we got the announcement for their latest M7 Android DAP and MG600 their very first single dynamic driver IEMs. Today, Shanling has unveiled their plans for the upcoming Portable USB DAC/AMPs with the reveal of the Shanling UA3. For all those who don’t know(although we doubt there will be anyone who doesn’t know this), Shanling is a well-reputed Hi-Fi audio gear brand from Shenzhen China. They lead the market with their wide range of products that covers Digital Audio Players, Audio Decoders, Headphone Amplifiers, etc.
The Latest UA3 is actually the fourth installment in the “UA” series of premium portable USB Audio DAC/AMPs from Shanling. It will be bridging the gap between the entry-level UA2 and the flagship UA5 in the series. Shanling has actually featured the latest AK4493S DAC chipset from AKM technologies. This is going to be the first in the UA lineup to feature an AKM DAC chipset, also the AK4493S is among the first set of DACs coming out of the AKM factories after the fire that happened two years back. It will be good to see how this new DAC turns out for them.
Shanling UA3 also brings several features from the TOTL UA5 portable DAC/AMPs. It has got dual headphone output ports, a single-ended 3.5mm, and a balanced 4.4mm headphone output. Shanling has advertised the UA3 to have a powerful output rating(211mW @ 32Ω). UA3 also has a standby mode that will be saving up on the battery of the connected source device when not in use. It has got hardware volume keys too located at the back of the device.
With all these new features and compact form factors, the UA3 looks pretty great. Shanling has not yet released any price information but they say it will be slightly over the UA2 so we can expect it to be somewhere around 100 to 110$. It will be released soon, stay tuned with us for more updates.
