Kinera has released a brand new multi-driver tribrid set of in-ear monitors, known as the Kinera URD. They have been releasing some images and details of URD over the past week. This is their first premium in-ear monitor launch in 2022. This is Kinera’s first-ever IEM to feature 3D-Stereoscopic faceplates that are combined with excellent hand-painting skills for a stunning look. The pair is designed with a five-driver tribrid configuration with a double dynamic driver, dual Sonion EST drivers, and a balanced armature driver. If we follow recent released by Kinera, They have been including excellent cables with their new IEMs. With the URD, Kinera has packed a hybrid cable made of OCC+Silver-plated OCC+gold-plated OCC wires. URD is launched worldwide for 650$, it’s a tough competition in the 500-700$ price segment with multiple multi-driver tribrid IEMs(Such as Moondrop Variations and Thieaudio Monarch mk1). But considering Kinera’s expertise in designing tribrid configurations, we are having good hopes with the URD.

Kinera URD-1

Kinera URD has its roots with the Norse Mythology for design and tuning concepts. Following the Norse stories, URD is the eldest sister among the sisters of fate(known as Norn). She is said to be the incharge of the past and has a well right under the world tree known as the Well of URD. Kinera’s lead engineer and designers have taken a deep inspiration from the URD, designing the pair with a warming, smooth sound, and stunning looks.

Kinera URD-2

URD uses a titanium-crystal diaphragm coaxial double dynamic driver for producing a powerful bass response, a customized BA driver has a smooth midrange presentation, and the treble response is produced by dual Sonion EST65DB01 low-voltage electrostatic drivers. The drivers are arranged in a three-way frequency division combined with professional tuning adjustments result in a smooth, natural, detailed sound with wide soundstage on the URD.

Kinera URD-3

In terms of looks and design, Kinera has the upper hand since long. Their IEMs speaks with their stunning hand-painted designer cavities. Just take any of their previous models such as Skuld, Norn, Nanna, Baldr, and you will understand what we are saying. With the latest URD, Kinera takes things up a notch with steroscopic 3D printed faceplates that are later hand-painted to depict the Well of URD. The cavities of URD are simply a great looker!!

Kinera URD-4

Kinera bundles a high-purity cable as a stock one with the latest URD. Kinera has always featured high-quality cables with its products. For the latest URD, they have designed a mixed cable featuring 6N OCC Copper + Silver-plated OCC + Gold-plated OCC wire cores. This cable has interchangeable termination plug design, with 4.4mm, 2.5mm, and 3.5mm plugs included in the package.
