DD HiFi Janus 2: Revamped Dual-Socket Single DD IEMs
Last Year, DD HiFi entered into the world of HiFi IEMs with a very unique product. They designed an IEM that supported both MMCX and 2-Pin connector types, the DD HiFi Janus. It grabbed a lot of attention for this dual-socket design, but it was discontinued soon after its release for unknown reasons. Today, DD HiFi has brought the Janus back in an all-new avatar, the dual-socket design is still here, the design is still similar, though the internals is completely changed for a new, more energetic sound, the all-new Janus 2.
The pair houses a newly-developed 10mm dynamic driver unit. It has a new dual-layer rear cavity design with a 316L stainless steel front cavity. This time, they have used high-quality OCC and pure silver wires for internal wiring designed by Effect Audio. Janus 2 is officially available in two different variants, simple and standard edition. It starts at 149$ for the simple edition.
Janus 2 Vs Janus 1, The Main Changes:-
DD HiFi has used just the design and form factor of the Janus 1, they have redesigned the Janus 2 from the ground up with a new driver, new cavity design, new tuning, new cable, and even new internal wirings. They also upgraded the retro-looking accessories in the Janus 1 to new, fashionable accessories(such as magnetic cable clip and carry case). It looks like, they have launched an entirely new pair with new, immersive sound.
Custom-Developed 10mm Dynamic Driver:-
DD HiFi has designed a new 10mm dynamic driver for the Janus 2. It is faster, more responsive, and more sensitive than the driver used in Janus 1. Janus 2 also got a new dual-cavity design that helps the driver to produce a lively, engaging sound. The experience with the Janus 2 is immersive and powerful with good clarity over a wide frequency response range.
DD HiFi has designed a dual-layer vibrating rear cavity design in Janus 2 that allows for better control of the reverse sound waves. The pair adopts an aluminum alloy metallic inner cavity with a dual-layer PolyCarbonate plastic outer shell. The front cavity here is made with high-quality 316L stainless steel material that is polished & electroplated for a smooth finish.
Janus 2 follows what Janus 1 started. It features a unique dual-socket design that allows the use of both MMCX as well as 2-pin 0.78mm connector cables with the pair. They are placed in a T-shaped design that allows the users to wear the pair in both over-the-ear or cable-down manner. These two are by far the only IEMs in the market to feature a dual-connector design.
Premium Internal Wiring Designed By Effect Audio:-
DD HiFi has upgraded the internal wiring for the Janus 2. Internal wiring is designed by Effect Audio, a premium IEM upgrade cable manufacturing brand. They have designed high-purity internal wiring with a combination of OCC and pure silver wires for positive pole and pure OCC for the ground wiring.
High-Quality Bundled Cable:-
DD HiFi Janus 2 bundles the pair with a high-purity mixed hybrid cable. The positive pole of the signal wire is made with high-purity silver-plated OFC material, and the ground wire is made with pure OFC material. The cable has a single-ended 3.5mm termination plug. Janus 2 is launched in two different variants, the main difference between both of them is the included cable. One comes with an MMCX cable with a transparent cover and the other comes with a cloth sheathed 2-pin cable.
